The homeless people of Britain need your help...

By donating just £1-2 you would be doing your bit towards making a big difference to many lives accross the UK.

Our aim is to raise about £10,000 by RoughRide 2011, so that together we can help those living on the street that are unable to help themselves.

RoughRide is all about endurance, similar to that of living rough on the streets!

No hotels, no home comforts! Rough ride is about doing the whole thing sleeping rough all the way...
Rough ride 2011 will be over 6-7 days covering an epic 280 miles from Rhyl (North Wales) to Swansea (South Wales). The route shall go through Snowdonia, past Mount Snowdon and then follow the coastline all the way back down to swansea. Keep up to date with all the goings on at my Blog.
Our aim is to help support those which are on the street through no fault of their own. Help them back into homes and into work. The funds raised will go towards various homeless charities as well as assisting individual cases.

Although I have never been homeless or needed any Charity myself;

I am just a local freelance web designer and general handyman, definately not an experienced cyclist!
I have recently been drawn towards the desperate plight of the unfortunate people that find them selves homeless through no fault of their own.
While staying in Manchester over Christmas 2009 I was roaming around town when a young girl holding a baby came up to me begging me for money to help her and her baby. Unfortunately I had absolutely no money on me and I could not invite her back to the house for dinner and a warm place to stay for the night as I was staying with family. So I had no choice but to keep moving with the rest of the crowd pushing past her in the street.

I soon began to notice many others living on the street, some the same age as me some even younger. I was extremely frustrated at not being able to help these people in any way, so I decided to devise a cunning plan so that in 2010 I would have the means by which to help these vunerable homeless people back into homes, work and normal lifestyle that the rest of us take for granted.

One man, one bike & a hint of stupidity!

Barely knowing one end of a bike from the other, I cycled all the way from Manchester to Swansea
(170 miles) for one reason, I wanted to raise as much money as possible to help the homeless accross the UK.

I did not be stay in any fancy hotels along the way, just slept rough as the homeless do for as long as it took me to get back to Swansea. My progress could be followed all the way on my Twitter.

As you can see this was not a one off fund raiser for myself as I am continueing to raise funds for various homeless charities for the foreseeable future.

I really am trying to do what ever I can to raise some funds to help the homeless people in the UK. Not just to give them a hand out but to help them back into homes and into work.

Today people buy stuff on the web with things other than just money. Sites such as FreebieJeebies and Kudos have been very successful in the UK at sending people loads of cool FREE stuff just for buying something off their site that they were going to buy anyway, and then getting a few friends to do the same, easy!
